Running in Australia

Marie Murphy is a Fitness Specialist and Sports Nutritionist with over 20 years' experience in the Health and Fitness Industry. Marie is an Irish Olympian who competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games (Marathon). She lived in Los Angeles for twenty six years devoting her time to teaching and coaching all age groups to better health. Marie was Head Coach of both Track and Field and Cross Country running teams at Louisville High School and Crespi Carmelite High School. As Head Coach for eighteen years, she built a strong athletic programme winning many State Championships and was awarded the Coach of the Year title.

While living in California Marie was involved with various organizations promoting health and fitness. She founded MBS Fitness in 2002, a fitness company that provided group fitness training programmes from fitness walking to marathon training. MBS Fitness was founded to provide an avenue for people to take charge of their health and well-being through a balanced approach towards fitness. All programmes use Marie’s training philosophy -- to integrate and utilize the mind, body and soul to help those joining the programme achieve their fitness goals.

Marie also co-founded the Susan Love MD Marathon Training Programme with world renowned breast cancer researcher and NY Times best selling author, Dr. Susan Love, in 2002. The marathon training programme raised funds to benefit the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation, which is dedicated to finding a way to prevent breast cancer. Marie also worked as the Cardiovascular & Strength Consultant for the UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology. Marie continues to lead by example; she won the Inaugural More Marathon in New York City, completing the race at age 45.

At present Marie is the Exercise Specialist for the Irish Cancer Society designing programmes in using exercise to reduce people’s risk of developing cancer, and in those already diagnosed with the disease, using exercise to reduce the chance of a cancer recurrence as well as improve quality of life.
